Building International Peace Through Cultural Dialogue: The Misjudged Nuclear Power

Yogyakarta — Sunday (03/04/2022), Center of International Security Studies, International Relations Department Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta has successfully held an in-person discussion by inviting UGM-based nuclear engineering lecturer, Dr. Yudi Utomo Imardjoko along with Prof. Dr. Tulus Warsito from International Relations Department UMY.

The discussion went fruitful moderated by Dr. Sugeng Riyanto. Both speakers stressed out the misjudged perspective that is commonly used to view nuclear. Dr. Yudi explained that nuclear has power more than just as a weapon tool, but also as a rich source of electricity. While Prof. Tulus underlined the importance of cultural dialogue and an exchange of ideas across the nations’ border, so that we can prevent the aggressive narrative among political elites.

During the discussion session, several students find it intriguing and then the discussion went sharp; some of them are respond to the other opinion in a high manner.
